Welcome to PYHA Learn to Play Hockey. This program targets players who want to learn the fundamentals of playing ice hockey. It is NOT a learn to skate session. The Iceplex (our home rink) offers sessions to teach your youngster the fundamentals of skating. Any child registering for a Learn To Play session must have taken at least one (most require 2) Learn to Skate sessions or whether from the IcePlex or some other qualified skating program or demonstrate skating proficiency.  Registration for Learn to Play Hockey is available on-line at this website.  Your skater can join at anytime during the session and will be given a prorated price if he/she joins late.

As part of the Learn to Play session, your child will learn the fundamentals of hockey including: shooting, passing, positioning, skating (more advanced) techniques, puck control, stick handling and more. Upon approval from the LTP coaches, your child may be eligible to participate in our house hockey program with organized games and practices.

Equipment: we do have equipment kits available which fit most kids under 10. These kits do not include skates or sticks, but have the other essential equipment to partcipate in the program. There is no charge as these kits are loaned to the players to use for the entire session. To purchase skates and sticks, we recommend visiting Play it Again Sports located in the shopping center across from the IcePlex. They have both new and used equipment available.
